Chailly is a residential neighbourhood situated on the hillside above Montreux centre, between the lower town and the higher hillside villages. It offers a quiet, residential atmosphere with good views, easy access to the town centre and a property market that provides good value compared to the lakeside areas.

Character and position

Chailly occupies a hillside position above the main Montreux urban area, at an altitude of approximately 500–600 metres. The neighbourhood is predominantly residential — a mix of apartment buildings, houses and villas set on the hillside above the town. The atmosphere is quiet and residential, with a local community character.

The views from Chailly are good — elevated perspectives over the lake and the surrounding mountains. The neighbourhood is close enough to the Montreux centre to be accessible on foot or by bus, making it a practical choice for buyers who want a quieter environment without sacrificing access to urban amenities.

Property types and prices

Chailly has a mix of property types — apartment buildings and detached houses. The building stock includes both older properties and more recent residential developments. Properties tend to be well-maintained, and the neighbourhood has a good residential quality.

Prices in Chailly are generally lower than in the lakeside areas of Montreux. Apartments range from CHF 700,000 to CHF 2.5 million. Houses and villas are available from CHF 1.5 million to CHF 4 million.

Access and connectivity

Chailly is accessible by road and by bus from Montreux centre. The journey to the main train station takes approximately 10 minutes by bus or car. The neighbourhood is also accessible on foot from the centre — a walk of approximately 20–30 minutes uphill.

For buyers who want to be within easy reach of Montreux centre without paying the lakeside premium, Chailly offers a practical and well-located alternative.
