Blonay is a genuine commune with a strong local identity — not simply an extension of Montreux or Vevey. It has its own commercial centre, schools, sports facilities and community life. The atmosphere in Blonay is more authentically Swiss than in the more tourist-oriented Montreux centre. It is a place where people live and work, rather than primarily a resort destination.

Views and setting

Blonay sits at an altitude of approximately 600–700 metres, providing elevated views over the lake and the surrounding mountains. The views are good — particularly from the higher parts of the commune — though less dramatic than from Glion or Chamby.

The commune is surrounded by green countryside, vineyards and orchards, giving it a pleasant, rural character that contrasts with the more urban environment of the lakeside towns.

Access

Blonay is accessible by road and by the Blonay-Chamby heritage railway, which connects to Vevey. The journey to Vevey takes approximately 15 minutes by car; to Montreux, approximately 15 minutes. Public bus services connect Blonay to both Vevey and Montreux.
